BROOKLYN BRIDGE
see lyrics here
a love song for the harbor. something about Whitman, Sinatra, and a girl...

You'll miss her most when you roam
`cause you'll think of her and think of home
WE ARE THE CITY
An NYC anthem inspired by the Lower East Side in the 90s, before fancy handbags
shops opened on Ave D. For Brad Will...

THE HOLY LAND
Water St, Downtown NYC (the Fourth Ward) in the mid 1880s. 2 establishments -
Kit Burns' Sportsmans Hall (i.e. speakeasy and rat fighting pit) and John Allen'
s dancehouse (i.e. brothel). The song is a John dancing in the street with one
of the gals. The Tigris does not flow through the Holy Land. The narrator is a
know it all and like most of his kind, gets it wrong.

ONCE UPON A WHEN by Dan Littleton
Dan Littleton wrote this song while in a band called Three Shades of Dirty, the
project that followed The Hated. He still makes sublime music with IDA.
STORYLINE
A song I recorded on my first CD Riffraff in 95. This take features Johnny's middle
eastern fiddle stylings.
WATCH FOR ME
The producer instructed me to hit the boozer, smoke a ton of cigarettes despite
being a non smoker, stay up as late as possible and then we'd do the vocal take
first thing in the morning. this way it wouldn't be too pretty. i did what he
said and even through a screaming argument with a friend into the mix. it's probably
still too pretty.
BEAUTIFUL NIGHT
the romance of drinking, smoking, fighting, and love. all of it will kill ya kids.
penetration point? wish id thought of that.
PHILADELPHIA GIRL
i was on an outlaw country kick and was writing songs less verbose. In general
I am very verbose, except when I am speaking. Stonewall and Blue Nights are from
the same period.
THROW ME TO THE DOGS
a desert song with a debt owed to Cactus Ed, Terry Tempest Williams, and Peg Millet
just beacuse there is a ringtail cat in the song.
CHAINLINK FENCE
lucky bottle tops, baseball cards, and canollis should've been in this song too.
The King of the New York Streets and the Bakewell grave made it in though. And
I know Sally's is referenced but I had a tantrum there as a child and something
else happened years later and I can't go back. Pepe's is better and the people
are nicer.
KING NEPTUNE
Wha'happen?
COLVILLE BLUES
more desert music written in eastern Washington State.
